This is follow-up post based on the comments received in response to our July 8 roasting of the soon-to-be-former Alaska governor, as well as, generally, the conservative blogosphere's willingness to follow Gov. Palin over a cliff.
As usual, many of the angrier comments on this site -- and many recent ones are no exception -- don't meet us on the higher intellectual plane we desire, and instead resort to name-calling and avoiding the actual substance of our points.
I challenge anyone to watch the Couric interview on YouTube. It's embarrassing. It's some of the most uncomfortable television I've ever seen. If, after watching Palin stammer through a response to what should have been a softball question, anyone still thinks this woman is intellectually fit to hold the office she sought, you're out of your mind.
Yes, I'm sure Couric was rooting for Palin to fail and look dumb. So what? She asked a completely legitimate question, designed to test the interviewee's knowledge, and the interviewee failed completely. I don't understand how anyone can watch the Couric interview and say with a straight face that Palin's performance was the press' fault.
Get used to it. The liberal bias of the elite media is a fact of life if you're a Republican with national political aspirations. From Goldwater to Nixon to Reagan to Bush and to McCain, it's wrong, but that's simply how it is.

"Fanaticism" is defined as an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm or zeal. Winston Churchill once said that a fanatic is someone who refuses to change his mind, but won't change the subject. So it goes with Palin's millions of admirers. In this way, such Republicans engage in the exact same behavior as starry-eyed Obamatrons, who tout the president's "change" and "hope" no matter how decidedly partisan and hypocritical their hero might be.
For whatever reason, no matter what comes out of Sarah Palin's mouth, nor how ignorant she proves herself to be, those legions of far-right devotees will remain behind her.
Pathetic.

I'm farther right than the commish and enjoy skewering his posts when they require it. BUT, the commish is spot on about Palin.
Lets go over a few things.
1. Palin is absolutely unelectable. Under no circumstance could she be a national ticket runner in the next decade. Her bible thumping, evolution denying, climate change denying, I'm qualified because I can see Russia resume makes her unelectable. And don't think I'm bashing conservatives, because I fit into a number of those categories. But the point is that that resume makes her unelectable. The COUNTRY, elects a president - Not the bible belt. So my first point is: Any discussion of Palin is meaningless because for all pragmatic purposes, she is moot.
2. Have you actually watched her interviews? She comes off like an idiot. She is just like The Hope Monger, only she doesn't have the rhetorical still he has. Maybe she is the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe she is the GOP's messiah.
Maybe if she is those things she should have acted like it. So my second point is: She's either an idiot, or really good at playing one on TV. Either way, she's...wait for it ---> unelectable!!
3. Commish got the Bush Doctrine right.
Dear poster who knows how to access this blog, but apparently not how to access a reputable research archive (let alone google), pull your head out of your ass.
My third point: Conservatives with their head in their ass are douchebags.
4th and Lastly: The more time we conservatives allow Palin to dominate the headlines about the state of the Republican party the longer we give credence to the myth that the GOP is done, the longer we allow ourselves to look like fools. If Palin is the best we got, I'm starting a new party.
Here is the God's honest truth ---> to win in politics you have to have at least a majority. Time to wake up Conservatives, the majority of the country isn't bible thumping, pro-life, evolution denying, climate change denying, gun toting rednecks.
So, we best not give the finger to the rest of the country if they are not like us. I REALLY HATE to even vaguely sound like I am repeating anything Obama might have said, but because my head it NOT firmly lodged in my ass, I can say:
The best way to win over those that didn't vote as Conservatives last cycle, isn't to pick the most polarizing candidate --> it's to pick one that (while conservative) can extend a hand and try to get the independents and MAYBE some dirty liberals to unclench their fist.
Allow me to retort, oh person-who-claims-to-be-a-conservative-but-sure-as-hell-talks-like-every-leftist-troll-I've-ever-read...
1) Palin may very well be unelectable, but she sure as hell can pull in an audience. People who want to attract conservatives and their dollars into their campaigns will seek her out, and Palin will be able to say yes or no. In this way she'll become a kingmaker of sorts.
Now for your 'insults' that betray your ignorance:
She's a woman of faith, not a bible thumper.
She doesn't deny evolution, pay attention.
Climate change is real. Anthropogenic climate change is a myth. She knows the difference. Do you?
She didn't say she could see Russia from her house, Tina Fey said that.

2) Yes I've watched her edited interviews with proffesional hacks who despise her and the fly-ver folks she represents. And?

4) Head back to moveon.org and/or kos, pal. You aren't fooling anyone here.
Back in September 2008, we saw her wagging her finger that Hillary Clinton, that Hillary should not whine about tough media coverage, she was not doing women any good, she should just plow through it, she should have known what she was getting into and should just try harder and prove herself. “WOW”, I guess she loves measuring others by standards that she does not follow. What a hypocrite, but expected from most political false prophets types. Now we see that she attempted used her official position for personal gain, this is too sweet. Thank you Sarah, great job.
